The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Softball team battles Twin River in the first round of the State Tournament in Hastings on Wednesday. GACC Head Coach Allan Kreikemeier says the Titans’ pitcher is tough.
“We really expect them to be a really quality team. We know their pitcher is going to be quite a challenge for us, and we’re looking forward to the challenge and hoping we can win that battle a little bit.”
The Bluejays come in with a 22-9 record while the Titans are 28-6.
GACC is making their 6th straight state tournament appearance.
The Bluejays won District C-5 last week. Kreikemeier says his team’s pitching was superb in one of Friday’s games.
“I think Mariah Hunke pitched a really good game on Friday night against Highway 91. She just really was doing a great job of throwing hard and hitting a lot of good spots, and making a lot of good pitches.”
Wednesday’s game was slated to start at 11:30 a.m., but has been pushed back an hour due to the weather, and will begin around 12:30 p.m.
All of GACC’s State tournament games can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
