The Nebraska volleyball team picked up two more weekly Big Ten honors after the final week of the regular season on Monday. Mikaela Foecke was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, her fourth award this season, and Lauren Stivrins was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week, her third overall honor this year.
Foecke, a senior outside hitter, averaged 4.17 kills per set on a .458 hitting percentage to go with 2.67 digs per set in Nebraska’s wins against Ohio State and Maryland this past weekend. Foecke led the Huskers on Senior Night with 16 kills on a .577 hitting percentage with seven digs.
Stivrins, a sophomore middle blocker, averaged 2.17 blocks per set with 2.33 kills per set on a .522 hitting percentage to her second defensive award this year. She was also Big Ten Player of the Week on Oct. 1. Stivrins had seven blocks in a sweep against Ohio State on Friday, and she followed with six blocks in a sweep of Maryland on Saturday, the Huskers’ eighth straight win.
Nebraska opens NCAA Tournament play against Hofstra on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
