Elm Creek- In a game that looked good on paper, Elm Creek dominated 8th ranked Bertrand on Friday night 46-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Elm Creek held Bertrand without a first down in the first half while building a 24-0 lead. Elm Creek which led 8-0 after a Brock Miner four yard touchdown run in the first quarter, forced two Bertrand fumbles in the 2nd quarter and turned those into scores. First, LeShaun Thornabar rumbled in from 16 yards out then Devon Walker scored from three yards out after a Bertrand fumble at their 21.
In the second half, Elm Creek took its first possession and marched it in for six as Thornabar scored from one yard out. Thornabar would add a three yard td catch from quarterback Dillon Gillming in the second half and Preston Walker finished the scoring with a one yard run for the Buffaloes. Along with struggling to stop Elm Creek, Bertrand was also hurt by five turnovers as they had just 99 yards in total offense compared with Elm Creek who totaled 300. Elm Creek travels to Nebraska Christian next week, Bertrand will host South Loup.
