New York, N.Y. — Bluejay freshman Temi Carda claimed her first BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, Feb. 5. Carda came off the bench in the Bluejays’ challenging road swing at NR/RV DePaul and RV/RV Marquette to average 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists. Temi shot 47.4% from the field and 60.0% from long range.
The rookie scored in double figures in both tilts, including 13 points and five rebounds in Sunday’s crucial win over the Golden Eagles. Despite the reserve role, Carda was third on the team in scoring last week and tied for the top average by a rookie in the BIG EAST.
Another Bluejay collecting accolades this week was junior Audrey Faber, who was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Faber averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds 3.5 assists and knocked down 44.8 percent from the field, highlighted by scoring the game-winning and-one at Marquette on Sunday.
Carda, Faber and the rest of the Bluejays face off with Creighton’s travel partner Providence this week in Rhode Island on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 am (CT).
