Fargo, N.D. — Eleven of Creighton’s 12 players scratched the scoring column as the Bluejay women’s basketball team posted an 86-51 win at North Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 9.

The win evened Creighton’s record at 1-1 on the season, while North Dakota State fell to 1-1.

North Dakota State opened the scoring with a three pointer from Marina Fernandez, but Creighton responded with a 7-0 run via layups from juniors Jaylyn Agnew and Ali Greene and a trey from senior Audrey Faber. The two teams battled back and forth throughout the opening frame, with Creighton taking a 19-17 edge into the second quarter.

The Bluejays began to create some separation early in the second as Faber found her range from downtown, then sophomore Temi Carda converted a layup to make it 24-17 (9:06). After the Bison worked back with four at 26-22, Creighton pushed its lead to double figures on the first bucket of redshirt freshman Gracey Griglione’s career and another triple from Faber to make it 34-22 (5:55). One more mini burst before halftime sent the Bluejays to the locker room with a 41-26 edge.

The Bison opened the second half with a bucket in the paint, but Creighton responded with another 7-0 to extend the lead to 20 at 48-28. This time it was Carda guiding the Bluejays with the first five points, then fellow sophomore Tatum Rembao capped the run with a driving layup. The Bluejays went on to take a 60-38 edge into the final frame.

Creighton continued to push its lead throughout the fourth, leading by as much as 35 points at 84-49 in the final two minutes before claiming the contest 86-51.

Faber led all scorers with 17 points in the game, while three other Bluejays finished in double figures. Carda closed the game with 14, Griglione delivered 12 points, while Rembao had 10. North Dakota State got 17 points from Michelle Gaislerova in the loss.
