OMAHA, Neb. — The Creighton Volleyball team moved up one spot to eighth in this week’s AVCA poll, released on Monday. That comes after Creighton went 2-1 last weekend, including a 3-0 sweep at then-No. 7 Kansas.
This is the fifth straight poll dating to last season with Creighton ranked in the top-10, tied for the nation’s sixth-longest active streak.
The Bluejays are the only team with multiple top-10 road wins this season, and also the nation’s only club with a top-25 victory each of the first three weekends of the season. Creighton’s three top-25 wins this season tie it for the national lead with Florida.
Creighton is 39-12 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll, and 6-8 when facing another ranked team while ranked. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 24 all-time polls, including each of the last 10 editions.
Minnesota remained in first place, nabbing 40 first-place votes. Penn State and Florida are second and third, just ahead of Stanford and Wisconsin. Texas is sixth, while Washington, Creighton, Kansas and Nebraska round out the top 10.
Creighton closes non-conference play this weekend with two matches at the Shocker Volleyball Classic. The Bluejays take on host Wichita State (7-2) on Friday at 7 p.m. before facing No. 19 Iowa State (7-0) on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Both matches can be heard in Omaha on KZOT (1180 AM).
