Briar Cliff head softball coach Erin Bly has announced the signing of Payten Magnussen of Norfolk, Nebraska to her 2019-20 recruiting class.
Magnussen is an academic all-conference and all-state recipient and a four-year varsity starter at Norfolk High School.
“Payten embodies all the qualities you look for in an exceptional student-athlete,” said Bly. “She will add a lot of depth to our lineup with her power and approach at the plate, but she will also show her prowess in the classroom. She works very hard and is someone that represents Briar Cliff’s core values so well. We could not be more excited to have her and her family a part of our softball program and community.”
Magnussen said she chose BCU because of the faculty, students, and academic programs that make Briar Cliff so special.
“The minute I stepped onto campus I felt like it was meant to be,” she said. “The staff and students at BCU welcomed me with open arms making me feel at home. I am looking forward to continuing my education and softball career as a Charger!”
Magnussen plans to major in biology at the Cliff with goals of working in the medical field. She is the daughter of Deana Magnussen and Mark Magnussen and sister to Ashtyn and Maddox.
