Chadron State College head men’s basketball coachHouston Reed announced today the addition of an exhibition game at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln to the schedule, to be played Monday, November 7 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
The game, which will not count toward the Eagles’ or Huskers’ overall record, is an opportunity for Chadron State to be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
The game will most likely be carried on BTN Plus, which is produced for an on-demand, online streaming on a premium subscription basis.
“We are excited about the opportunity to be able to compete at a high level,” said Reed. “It’s a chance for us to learn more about our team. Additionally we are thankful to the Cornhuskers coaching staff for affording our program, institution, and community the chance to experience playing in Lincoln.”
Chadron State has played the other two schools in the University of Nebraska system, Omaha and Kearney, numerous times throughout its 95-year men’s basketball history, but has never before been invited to the flagship campus.
The 2015-16 Huskers, led by head coach Tim Miles, finished 16-18 (6-12 Big Ten) and were 11th out of 14 teams in the Big Ten Conference. They return two of five starters including 10.1 points-per-game scorer Tai Webster, but will be without their top two scorers from last season, Shavon Shields and Andrew White, III, who both averaged in excess of 16 points.
No tip-off time for the contest has yet been announced. The game is included in Nebraska men’s basketball season ticket packages. Individual tickets for all Nebraska non-conference men’s basketball events will go on sale Tuesday, November 1 at 9 a.m. MT.
