HASTINGS – The GACC Bluejays met the Chadron Cardinals in an elimination game at the Class C State Softball Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 12 in Hastings.
Chadron got off to a hot start offensively, and led 8-1 after four innings.
GACC cut the score to 8-5, scoring four runs in the 5th.
Chadron was able to end the game in the bottom half of the fifth inning, however, scoring five runs, making the final score 13-5, invoking the eight-run mercy rule after five innings.
The Bluejays record seven hit sin the contest and we led at the plate by Melissa Hagedorn with two hits and an RBI, and Josie Dvorak, who also recorded two hits.
Marissa Hunke started the game pitching for GACC, but only went two-thirds of an inning. She allowed three earned runs on two hits and three walks, striking out one.
Lexis Haase pitched the remainder of the game, allowing 10 runs, six earned, on eight hits and five walks, while striking out six.
GACC ends their season at 13-14 overall.
