Central Men fall to Des Moines Area

January 29th, 2020 | Beth Rogers

The Central Community College mens basketball team lost at Des Moines Area Community College, 74-62, on Tuesday night.

The contest was close throughout and the Bears led the Raiders at halftime, 33-32. Late in the game, CCC missed a pair of potentially game-tying free throws. DMACC responded with an 8-0 run and time ran out on a Raiders comeback.

“I thought we competed and played hard against a really good team,” said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. “The Bears hold opponents to 60 points per game and they showed why tonight. Nothing came easy for us and they just made a few more plays than we did down the stretch.”

Roman Behrens led CCC in scoring with 20 points, while Trevion Crawford and Tre Mikkelsen each scored a dozen points.

The loss snaps a three-game winning streak and gives CCC a 13-9 record.

The Raiders are back in action at home on Friday night against Southeast Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Raider Fieldhouse.
