HASTINGS – The #3 Guardian Angels Central Catholic softball team opened play in the Class C state tournament against #6 Centennial at the Bill Smith Softball Complex in Hastings on Wednesday night, October 10.
The Broncos scored right away, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, and would add another run, going up 3-0 after the top of the third inning.
The Bluejays scored for the first time in the bottom of the third when Brenna Rief scored on an RBI grounder by Marissa Hunke. Jenna Schinstock tied the game at the next at bat when she drilled a two-run home run to straight away centerfield, making the score 3-3.

Centennial ad two more runs in the top of the sixth, and would win the game by a final score of 11-3 after the eight run mercy rule.
