OAKLAND – Oakland was the site of the girls East Husker Conference Basketball Tournament semifinals on Thursday. In the first game, West Point-Beemer (17-1) made nine shots from beyond the perimeter on their way to a 54-34 win over Clarkson/Leigh (16-3). Sierra Kile led the Cadets with 25 points, including five three pointers, while Andrea Hofmman made a trio of threes on her way to 13 points. Ashlynn Novotny had 8 points for the Patriots and Kaegan Held added 7.
In the second game, Oakland-Craig (17-1)overcame an early 13 point deficit to win a back-and-forth contest with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 66-62, handing the Bulldogs (18-2) just their second loss of the season. The Knights also made nine three pointers, and Dacey Nelson led the way with 27 points on a hat trick of three pointers, with Kennedy Benne adding 22. Taya Beller led four Bulldogs in double figures with 22 points.
Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Clarkson/Leigh will play for third place on Saturday, while West Point-Beemer and Oakland-Craig will meet in the conference championship at CCC in Columbus.
