The Hastings College volleyball fresh off it first ever Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament Championship has its eyes set on conquering Sioux City through Pool C. The Lady Broncos are the overall No. 3 seed for the national tournament and will begin play against Union (KY) Tuesday Nov. 29 at 9:00 a.m.
Union brings a 33-9 overall mark led by Rachel Andrews as she ranks in the top 30 nationally in hitting percentage at .323. Look for the matchup between her, Logan Drueppel (SR/Schuyler, NE) and the front line of Hastings to be an interesting one during the first match. The blocking power of Hastings which leads the country with 3.09 blocks per set led by Drueppel at 1.7 blocks per set which also leads the country.
In the Lady Broncos second match, Jamestown (25-12) has also had some success at the net as the Jimmies are currently fifth in the country in blocks (2.57 per set). This provides a unique challenge for the Hastings attackers that hit .264 for the season while Jamestown hit. 229 for the year. The final team in Pool C Hastings will face is Missouri Baptist (28-8) as the Trojans average nearly 14 kills per set which is good enough for 3rd best in the country.
