Courtney Schafer and Katelin Langel accounted for 41 of Briar Cliff’s 76 kills as the combo pushed the team past Dakota Wesleyan in a five-set contest. The Chargers won 3-2 over the Tigers by set scores of 25-18, 25-12, 22-25, 24-26 and 15-9 to lift BC to 10-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play, while DWU slipped to 12-8 overall and 2-6 in league games.

Schafer piled up a match-high 21 kills and Langel was right on her heels with 20 K’s. The Chargers hit .235 with 76 kills and 26 errors on 213 errors while also notching 74 assists, three service aces, 105 digs and 8.0 blocks. Nicolette Lavulo was also in double-digit kills with 14 andTeerstyn Johnson added seven. The setter-pairing of Laura Barry and Delaney Meyerorchestrated the Cliff offense to 74 assists with Barry dishing out 35 and Meyer chipped in 32 helpers. Five Chargers hit double figures in digs with Breanne Hankins leading the team with 33,Katie Berg had 17, Barry and Meyer both had double-doubles with 14 and 10 digs, respectively, and Megan Lee notched 11 digs. Johnson was the team-leader in kills with five.

Lauren Tadlock paced Dakota Wesleyan in kills with 19 and Dana Misiaszek was second with seven kills. Michelle Van Epps handed out 34 assists and Taylor Spence had 30 digs. As a team, the Tigers hit .107 with 45 kills and 25 errors on 187 attacks. DWU also had 39 assists, 93 digs and 13.0 blocks.

Briar Cliff will be at home again on Saturday, hosting No. 3 Hastings in a 3 p.m. matchup with a JV game at 1:30 p.m.
