Briar Cliff dropped a tough third set as Dordt finished off a sweep in GPAC volleyball action Tuesday in Sioux Center.

The 10th-ranked Defenders improved to 10-2 overall with a perfect 4-0 conference record with the 25-12, 25-15, 25-22 final score.

Briar Cliff struggled offensively with a team attack percentage of .051 on the night, while Dordt hit at a .307 mark. Courtney Schafer was able to tally 10 kills with a solid .318 attack rate. Dordt’s Ema Altena led all players with 11 kills in the match.

The Chargers top defensive performers in the match were Maureen ImrieDelaney Meyer and Danielle Coronado as all three players recorded five digs. Meyer also topped the Briar Cliff squad in assists with 14.

Leading the Defenders in digs was Aubrey Drake with 10 and Jamie De Jager led all players setting up 32 kills. De Jager also had both service aces for Dordt. The Chargers lone ace was credited to Kelsey Kanaby.

Dordt out blocked Briar Cliff 5-3 in the match. Tyra Blue teamed up with Charger teammates twice to record blocks.

The loss drops the Cliff to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in GPAC play. The Chargers look to bounce back with another road match on Thursday when they travel to Yankton to take on Mount Marty (3-10 overall, 0-6 GPAC).
