WISNER – We had coverage from the girls D1-4 basketball Subdistrict semifinals on 107.9 The Bull Tuesday night, Feb. 13. In the first game, Guardian Angels Central Catholic jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and led Walthill 39-28 at halftime. GACC went on to win the game 74-47. Kalleah WhiteEyes led Walthill with 15 points. Lexis Haase led four GACC players with 23 points. Brenna Rief added 14, Marissa Hunke had 12 and Angela Jansen added 10.
In the second game, Clarkson/Leigh led Pender 18-5 after the first quarter, but the Pendragons cut the deficit to 27-24 at halftime. The third quarter belonged to Pender, as they scored 17 points and led 43-38 at the end of the third. The Patriots started the fourth quarter on a 6-0 scoring run, and would eventually win the game 55-48. Ashley Ostrand had 16 points to lead Pender, going along with 13 from Faith Morris and 12 from Sarah Krueger. Halee Steffensmeier scored 20 points, inclduing four three pointers for Clarkson/Leigh. Ashlynn Novotny and Kaegan Held each added 10.
GACC and Clarkson/Leigh will face off in the D1-4 Subdistrict finals Thursday night at 7:00, with the game also being broadcast on 107.9 The Bull.
