YORK – The York wrestling team is looking to build on last year’s successful season that saw the Dukes go 21-6 in duals, won their conference for the second straight year and qualified eight wrestlers for the state meet in Omaha where three individuals medaled.
Seventh year head coach Chad Mattox’s team will look a little different this season as both the York and McCool School Boards along with the NSAA approved of a co-op for the McCool grapplers to join the Dukes. With the seven new wrestlers from McCool, the York wrestling program will feature 47 wrestlers.
York will open the season Thursday with a triangular with host Seward and Norris. The Dukes will bring out the home mats Saturday for the York Invite.
