Central Community College volleyball is pleased to announce the signing of Jordan Wegner, a senior at Wisner-Pilger High School.

The Raiders have a new coach in Abby Pollart, and Wegner says she feels the coaching transition will be a smooth one.

“I haven’t been able to like meet her in person, but I like communicated through like the phone, and talked to her and everything like that. And she seems like a good fit. Like her views are pretty close to Coach Young’s, which I really like. And I think it will be a great adjustment not only for myself, but for the sophomores that are coming next year.”

Wegner also had offers from Midland and Nebraska Wesleyan. The Prairie Wolves also wanted Wegner for track.

“Jordan is a huge sign for CCC volleyball,” said former Raiders head volleyball coach Mary Young. “At six feet tall, she is a versatile athlete and an explosive offensive player.  Jordan has been well trained playing for legendary coach Jean Groth in the Wisner-Pilger volleyball program and has tremendous potential to grow during her time at CCC.”

Wegner says Coach Groth was a very positive influence on her while she was being recruited.

“Well, Coach Groth, she knows when you have potential, and she’ll say it. And with her coaching it just really helped cause she was so positive and so inspiring to all of us girls. And she was the one who was like always keeping up on me. Like who you looking at, like where you want to go to, and it just helped to like also narrow that down. And she would sit down and talk to me, Ok Jordan, like how’s the college search going? And so with her being there it was really helpful.”

Wegner recorded 382 kills, 191 digs, 49 aces and 32 blocks in her senior season. She earned C-2 All-State Honorable Mention honors and was named all-conference first team. Wegner also participated in basketball and does track for the Gators

Wegner says her fondest high school memory comes from State Track.

“Probably at like state track how on Friday the boys would high jump, and they’d have the perfect weather. And then on Saturday like the last two years it’s always been super rainy. I think that’s going to be one I’ll always hold against the boys.”

Wegner says she’ll always remember scoring 40 points against Omaha Nation in Basketball Sub-Districts and beating GACC in Volleyball Sub-Districts this past year to get to a Sub-State Final as well.

Wegner is the daughter of Jon Wegner of West Point and Amanda Svatos of Wisner.
