(AUDIO) North Bend Central Football drops third straight in loss at Shelby-Rising City

Shelby-The Shelby-Rising City Football Team got the best of North Bend Central in a matchup of 5-2 teams in Shelby Friday night as the Huskies won 34-14.

Shelby-Rising City struck first at the 5:45 mark of the 1st quarter as Quarterback Mason Schleis scampered 14 yards for a TD to make it 7-0 in favor of the Huskies.

Shelby-Rising City scored again less than 3 minutes later as Schleis threw a 32-yard TD pass to Jett Pinneo to give the Huskies a 14-0 lead with under three minutes left to go in the opening period.

The Tigers sliced the lead in half at the 9:50 mark of the 2nd quarter as Quarterback Austin Endorf connected with Sam Buckingham on a 9-yard TD pass to make it 14-7 in favor of Shelby-Rising City.

Moments later, Endorf found John Emanuel for a 14-yard TD strike, and the game was nodded up at 14, which would be the halftime score.

The Huskies broke the tie with 9:40 remaining in the 3rd quarter as Max Hoatson scored from 6 yards out to put Shelby-Rising City ahead 20-14.

Schleis scored from three yards out with just over 8 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter to put the Huskies ahead 28-14.

He scored from a yard out with just over a minute left to make up the final score.

Schleis was 11-18 passing for 182 yards with a passing TD for Shelby-Rising City while rushing for 58 yards on 14 carries, and scoring three rushing touchdowns. Michael Martinez added 62 yards on the ground on 15 carries. Pinneo made 4 catches for 110 yards, and had the one TD.

Endorf was 30-41 passing for 278 yards with two touchdowns for North Bend Central. Emanuel hauled in 17 passes for 112 yards and the one TD.

The Tigers amassed 292 yards of offense, including 278 through the air, while the Huskies had 331 yards of total offense, 182 of them passing.

The Huskies improve to 6-2 on the year with the win and host David City Aquinas next Friday while North Bend Central, who has lost three straight and is now 5-3 on the year, hosts David City next Friday in the regular season finale.
