HASTINGS – The Malcolm Clippers captured their first state softball championship Friday in a 9-0 win over Cozad.

In only the school’s third year in existence and under first year head coach, Andrew Edwards, the Clippers finished 32-5 on the season.

Earning the second seed in Class C, the Malcolm bats torched the opposing pitching in Hastings defeating Neumann 11-3 in six innings, Raymond Central 15-7 in five innings, slipping past Guardian Angels Central Catholic 10-8, before taking care of the Cozad Reds 9-0 in five innings.
