HERSHEY – The  BDS girls are heading back to the state tournament after beating Sioux County, 60-47 in the D2-3 District Final on Friday. It’ll be the third overall appearance for the Eagles.

The first half saw both teams trading punches in a wild back and forth affair. Neither team could grab control of the game as the biggest lead would be only five points by BDS. Regan Alfs dominated inside the paint and on the perimeter, in particular in the first half. She scored 17 points in the first half, knocking in three from beyond the arc. However, Sioux County was led by Karlee Juhnke in the first half as she scored nine points, seeming to answer on every shot by BDS.

The Warriors got off to hot start in the third quarter, trailing by five, Sioux County went on an 8-0 run to grab a three point lead. It would be short lived as the Eagle defense turned it up another notch and eventually build a 18 point lead. Macy Kamler picked up where Alfs left off as she scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half. Sioux County’s Kodie Remp canned four three pointers in the second half, but the deficit was too much.

Alfs led all scorers with 27 points and five three pointers. Kamler contributed 20 points. Sioux County was led by Remp’s 20 points and six three’s. Juhnke scored 12 overall.

Sioux County ends the season at 18-6. BDS improves to 21-4 and will head to Lincoln for the state tournament on Thursday.
