The Scottsbluff and Gering girls golf teams both qualified for the State Tournament yesterday by notching top three finishes at the B-4 District meet in Sidney.
McCook claimed the top spot in the team standings with a combined round of 374, good for a two shot win over runner-up Scottsbluff.
Gering finished with a score of 405 and they were awarded third place after the disqualification of Sidney player.
The meet medalist was Scottsbluff junior Shelby Poynter, who carded a 78. The Lady Bearcats also had Jordyn Hoxworth inside the top 10 in eighth place after her round of 96. Also for Scottsbluff it was Rachel Hancock with a 99, D.J. Bokelman a round of 103 while Ashlynn Haun shot 114.
Gering had two players with top ten finishes. Bailey Kreider was fifth with a 94 while Megan Maser finished in ninth place with a round of 98. Other Gering scores had Jaylen Beam shoot 106, Ali Boswell 107, and Afton Mitchell 109.
The Class B state tournament is next Monday and Tuesday in Columbus.
Sidney, Holdrege, Gothenburg, and Lexington rounded out the team standings.
Ogallala won the C-5 meet on their home course yesterday placing five girls in the top ten on their way to a combined round of 395.
Chadron and Bayard also qualified for state as teams finishing second and third.
Alpine Hickstein of Chadron was the top finisher on the afternoon playing to a round of 80.
Mitchell’s Kenzey Kanno qualified for state, finishing second with a 84.
Bayard’s top finisher was Carissa Wolfe. She was in seventh place.
Mitchell and Bridgeport finished in fourth and fifth places in the team standings.
The Class C state tournament will be held in North Platte next Monday and Tuesday.
