OMAHA, Neb. — Creighton men’s basketball junior Trey Alexander has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading Creighton to a pair of wins.

Alexander averaged 25.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game to help the Bluejays pick up victories over Xavier (85-78) and DePaul (85-62) last week. He shot 52.6 percent from the field (20-38) and was perfect on six free-throw attempts at the line.

The Oklahoma City native had a season-high 27 points and added nine rebounds and four assists in Tuesday’s win over Xavier. He contributed 16 points, six rebounds and three assists in the second half as Creighton overcame a seven-point deficit in the final 12 minutes.

Alexander closed his week with 23 points, seven assists and four rebounds against DePaul.  He scored 10 points during Creighton’s 26-4 run early in the second half as the Bluejays put away the Blue Demons.

Creighton is now 16-0 all-time when the Preseason All-BIG EAST pick scores 20 or more points and 9-0 this season when he shoots 50 percent or better from the floor.

The Oklahoma City, Okla., product was previously recognized on November 20th.

Winners of seven of its last eight games, Creighton (16-5, 7-3 BIG EAST) hosts Butler on Friday at 8 p.m.
