Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) today announced that it has received a gift of $150,000 from Kelley Bean Company. As part of the WNCC Works: Expanding the Possibilities campaign, the gift will support the upcoming renovation of the Scottsbluff campus Performing Arts Facility as well as workforce success initiatives for regional economic development. The effort is also focused on helping additional students succeed through scholarships and updated facilities.
“WNCC has been good to the Kelley Family and Kelley Bean Co.,” said Kevin L. Kelley, president of Kelley Bean Company. “We are excited and honored to be able to make this donation to WNCC for the betterment of our workforce and to provide many opportunities for student success.”
Kelley is also proud to employ many WNCC alums, and he encourages them to stay connected to WNCC via the Alumni Association. “Kelley Bean Company is fortunate to have many WNCC Alumni as part of our team,” Kelley said. “The alumni association is a vehicle to keep individuals in our communities involved with the college, which is such a benefit to our region.”
The donation came in the midst of the fundraising campaign for the college, which will extend through the fall of 2016. This year also marks the landmark 90th anniversary of Western Nebraska Community College. The campaign has raised $8,500,000 so far, more than 90 percent of its goal. WNCC joins many community colleges that have launched campaigns to raise private donations and individual giving.
“Kelley Bean’s generous donation will be directly invested to improve WNCC facilities and programs, and to enhance student success,” said WNCC President Todd Holcomb. “The support from Kelley Bean is a testament to their generosity and the impact our alumni have on local businesses. This gift will allow us to create facilities that match the level of programs and student success we have at WNCC,” he added.
