WNCC enrollment up significantly

Preliminary enrollment figures at WNCC show an 11% hike in part-time and full-time students.

Registrar Roger Hovey says the hike is eleven percent from 1,548 part-time and full-time students last year to 1,719 students this year. Hovey says the reason is the career academies begun at the high school level which requires juniors and seniors to attend classes on the college campus.

Hovey admits the Scottsbluff school district, which is busing students to the college campus,  is where most of the additional students are coming from right now.

Hovey says there is tough competition from all the post-secondary schools when recruiting graduating seniors from the 24 panhandle high schools.
