Winter Weather Advisory Issued

Another round of winter weather has prompted  the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for the West Point area from noon Wednesday until 6pm Thursday.

A mix of light snow and some sleet is expected to develop this afternoon with snow continuing  tonight and tomorrow morning. We could see 2 to 4 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice.  Winds could gust  as high as 40 miles per hour tomorrow with areas of blowing and drifting snow. Plus, wind chills could fall to 20 to 25 below zero late tonight into tomorrow morning.

The advisory covers portions of east central and northeast Nebraska as well as west central Iowa.  Expect slippery road conditions and reduced visibility.  The cold wind chills could result in frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
