Winter Storm Watch And Dense Fog Advisory For Area Motorists

If you’re heading out on the roads this morning be aware there is a dense fog advisory in effect until 10 o’clock this morning most of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa including the West Point area. That’ll cause some slick spots on the roads and low visibility of a quarter of a mile or less in areas.. The fog may deposit a small amount of ice on roads and sidewalks.

 

 

We also have a Winter Storm Watch from this evening all the way through Sunday afternoon with a mix of freezing rain and sleet overnight with a change to snow tomorrow or tomorrow evening.

 

 

Total snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches in east central and northeast Nebraska and western Iowa.is possible with ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. Winds could gust up to 35 miles per hour.

Friday
A 20 percent chance of rain after 5pm. Areas of fog before 2pm, then patchy fog after 4pm. Widespread dense freezing fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 36. Light east southeast wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
Friday Night
Rain, freezing rain, and sleet before 1am, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet between 1am and 2am, then rain after 2am. Patchy fog. Low around 32. Breezy, with a northeast wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday
Rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet before 9am, then rain and snow between 9am and 10am, then snow after 10am. Patchy blowing snow before 2pm, then patchy blowing snow after 4pm. Patchy fog before 7am. High near 34. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Saturday Night
Snow. Patchy blowing snow before 7pm. Low around 29. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Sunday
A 50 percent chance of snow. Patchy blowing snow between 7am and 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 30. Blustery.
