West Point Community Foundation Scholarships Awarded

The West Point Community Foundation has selected the recipients of 17 scholarships awarded to members of the Class of 2018.

 

Seven students have been selected to receive the Allison Roeber Memorial Scholarships, five from the Foundation and two sponsored by the Don and Cathy Roeber. Each scholarship is worth $500.

 

Receiving the scholarships are, Allie Knobbe, Nicole Mitzel, Ashley C. Montenegro, Mariah Petersen, Kaitlyn Pilakowski, Austin Streeter, and Makenna Weddle Kalli Meyer will receive the $500 Russ Herman Journalism Scholarship.

 

Ronny Petersen was selected to receive the Lindberg Northeast Community College Scholarship worth $500 with Mariana Urquidez as alternate.

 

The Hank and Mona Stalp Scholarships worth $1000 will go to Rebekah Henschen, Bryant Rief, Leigh Jahnke, and Lauren Jacobsen. Alternates selected are Vicki Gatzemeyer, Allie Knobbe, Austin Streeter and Ariel Meyer.

 

Hannah Harstick was selected for the ARC – Elkhorn Valley Scholarship in Memory of Hattie Janecek for an individual seeking a degree with a Special Education. The scholarship is worth $500.

 

The Gwen F. Kaup Memorial Scholarship worth $1,000 is being awarded to Marissa Barrios.

 

The Butterfly Angels Scholarships, each worth $500, are in memory of Lola Persson and Gwen (Persson) Kaup. Scholarship winners are Luke Baumert and Brittney Hinkel.

 

RECEIVING SCHOLARSHIPS:

Marissa Barrios is the daughter of Maria E. Medina of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Marissa plans to attend the University of Nebraska Omaha and pursue a degree in
Social Work.

 

Luke Baumert is the son of Tyler and Denise Baumert of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic.  Luke plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in Zoology.

 

Hannah Harstick is the daughter of John and Jenny Harstick of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Hannah plans to attend the Central Community College and pursue a degree
in Nursing.

 

Rebekah Henschen is the daughter of Rev Nathan and Rhonda Henschen of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie High School. Rebekah plans to attend the Concordia University Nebraska and pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education.

 

Brittney Hinkel is the daughter of Ryan and Candy Hinkel of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Brittney plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in  Animal Science.

 

Lauren Jacobsen is the daughter of Tim and Tracy Jacobsen of Wisner and is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High School. Lauren plans to attend the Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Pre-Medicine.

 

Leigh Jahnke is the daughter of Terry and Kristine Jahnke of Bancroft and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Leigh plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in Biological Sciences/Spanish.

 

Allie Knobbe is the daughter of Melissa and the late Chris Knobbe of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Allie plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a
degree in Science Eduation.

 

Kalli Meyer is the daughter of Brett and Melisa Meyer of Scribner and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Kalli plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in
Journalism.

 

Nicole Mitzel is the daughter of Tony and Lynette Mitzel of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Nicole plans to attend the Dickinson State University and pursue a degree in Nursing.

 

Ashley Montenegro is the daughter of Armando and Rosa Montenegro of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Ashley plans to attend the University of Nebraska Omaha and pursue a degree in Social Work.

 

Mariah Petersen is the daughter of Clark and Laurie Petersen of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie High School. Mariah plans to attend the University of Nebraska Kearney and pursue a degree in Secondary Education-Mathematics.

 

Ronny Petersen is the son of Jeffrey and Pamela Petersen of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Ronny plans to attend the Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Agronomy.

 

Kaitlyn Pilakowski is the daughter of Eric and Mary Brockmann of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Kaitlyn plans to attend the Creighton University and pursue a degree in PreDentistry.

 

Bryant Rief is the son of Roger and Jennifer Rief of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Bryant plans to attend  Doane University and pursue a degree in Elementary
Education.

 

Austin Streeter is the son of Travis and Sherri Streeter of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Austin plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in
Biological Sciences.

 

Makenna Weddle is the daughter of DJ and Melissa Weddle of West Point and is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Makenna plans to attend  Doane University and pursue a degree in
Biology and Chemistry.

 

The West Point Community Foundation is a non-profit tax-exempt organization. Please contact the Foundation to discuss donating or establishing an endowment for a specific area program or scholarship.
