The empty Blockbuster building in Scottsbluff, which has been vacant for many years, will soon have a new tenant when Wellcare moves in during the first quarter of next year.

Wellcare provides government-sponsored managed care health services, primarily through Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, to families, children, seniors and individuals with complex medical needs.

Lauralie Rubel is Plan President for Wellcare Nebraska and its members. She says they provide coordination of medications, doctors visits, transportation, education  and other needs for the the members they serve.

Rubel says Wellcare has served Medicaid members for thirty years across the country, Rubel says with a new contract with the Heritage Health Program in Nebraska, they will be employing 100 people across the state including 15 in Scottsbluff.

Rubel says the former Blockbuster building is a perfect site for their Scottsbluff office and once renovations are complete they hope to have the local office open in February.
