Water Search For Missing Stanton Man Suspended

Stanton County authorities have suspended a water search for a missing Stanton man after evaluation of the ice conditions with highly trained cold water rescue/recovery representatives from Yankton County and Lincoln Fire.

An extensive area search on the ground in and around Maskenthine Lake Sunday night and Monday morning showed no signs of Eddie Myrick, 55, of Stanton or his motorcycle.

Evidence recovered through the use of a drone showed motorcycle tire tracks and indicates an area in the lake that had disturbed open water, but is unsafe at this time to search further due to thin ice.

Family has been made aware of the situation and are dealing with this to the best that anyone can under the circumstances.  The family did wish to thank everyone who assisted in the search and for their efforts to try and locate Eddie.

Maskenthine Lake is currently closed and will remain closed for an indefinite period of time to all, except authorized officials.
