A Friday afternoon Wal-Mart shoplifting call turns into a sizable drug bust for the Scottsbluff Police Department.
Court documents say police were dispatched to Wal-Mart for a shoplifter, who was apprehended after trying to flee through the parking lot.
The stolen items were recovered, and a search of the suspect- 35-year-old Manuel Guerrero- resulted in discovery a large amount of drugs in his backpack.
Police say they found more than 64 grams of methamphetamine, eight grams of cocaine, three ounces of marijuana, ten grams of heroin, and 15 MDMA pills.
Also located in Guerrero’s backpack were pipes, baggies, and digital scales. He initially told police his name was John Guerrero, but it was later discovered that he was in fact Manuel Guerrero. He also has an extraditable warrant out of Colorado.
He was arrested on charges of: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine and Heroin), Possession with Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine and Marijuana), Shoplifting, Obstruction, Providing False Information, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Guerrero is currently being detained on a $188,000 bond, and is scheduled to make his first appearance on the charges on Wednesday afternoon in Scotts Bluff County Court.
