(Audio) Tyson plant in Lexington evacuated for ammonia leak

LEXINGTON – Tyson, inc beef processing plant in Lexington was evacuated due to a possible gas release shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Employees were able to return to the building shortly after 12:30 p.m.   It is unknown if operations resumed.

    As of 1:30pm, Lexington Regional Health Center did not information available on the number of patients brought there nor their condition.  However  LRHC’s Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer LeAnn Muegerl advised that “patient care remains our top priority”.    More information is expected to be released later in the day.

Midwest Medical Transport assisted with transport of patients from the Tyson plant and was on stand-by at LRHC in case patients needed to be transferred to another medical facility.
