On Sunday afternoon at about 4:30 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a UTV accident that injured both occupants as they drove on private property just east of Norfolk off Grandview Avenue.
The accident occurred when the UTV driven by 25 year old Tyler Steckelberg, lost control and rolled, ejecting Steckelberg and his 19 year old passenger, Lexcee Robertson, both of Norfolk.
The UTV landed on top of Steckelberg and was quickly removed from him by bystanders. Both were transported to FRHS by Norfolk Fire and Rescue. Seatbelts were not in use and the accident is still under investigation.
On Saturday morning at about 7:15 a.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle accident that closed Hwy 15 for about five hours. The accident occurred when a northbound semi driven by 55 year old Kevrin Nissen, of Wayne drove off the edge of the highway and over corrected causing the semi to lose control and roll several times.
Nissen who was wearing a seatbelt was not seriously injured and was treated at the scene by Howells Rescue. The accident occurred about seven miles northwest of Howells and the semi and trailer were a total loss.
Seatbelts are credited with probably saving the life of Nissen.
