Torrington city officials tomorrow will meet with another candidate for Police Chief with the hope that he is the man who will take over the job on a permanent basis.
David Hulshizer had accepted the job but a week later he told the city he was declining the position due to personal reasons.
Mayor Mike Varney says they will now meet with their second choice, Glenrock Police Chief Tim Hurd, who Varney indicated has a great attitude, still wants the position , and has no problem getting offered the job as the second choice.
Varney says even if he appoints Hurd as the new Chief, his recommendation must be approved by the city council June 7th before it is official.
Torrington has been searching for a permanent Police Chief for a year and a half since the dismissal of of former Chief Eric Sharp; who had fled the scene of an accident he was involved in.
