It took firefighters about 3 hours to control a house fire in Torrington Monday afternoon.
Torrington Volunteer Fire Chief Lance Petsch tells KNEB News fire crews were called to the 3600 block of Converse shortly after 2:30 p.m. to find flames had already broken through the roof of the structure.
Petsch says firefighters were able to knock down the blaze fairly quickly once inside and with the roof opened for ventilation. 17 firefighters, two engines, rescue and support units responded with fire command, as well as mutual aid from Lingle Fire.
Petsch says no one was home at the time, and a neighbor and police officer were able to rescue a dog that was inside.
A Wyoming State Fire investigator is still working to determine the cause of a blaze.
Petsch says it appeared to start in the rear of the house and damage was substantial, possibly even a total loss.
