State Senator John P. Stinner is rescheduling town hall meetings originally scheduled in the District for next week due to a family emergency.
The new schedule for the town hall meetings in the district are Tuesday, October 25, at 8 a.m. at the Morrill American Legion, 117 Center Avenue, in Morrill, and 6 p.m. at the Gering Civic Center, 1050 M Street, in Gering.
Stinner also says he hopes the Nebraska football players who knelt during the national anthem at last Saturday’s Northwestern Game will use the situation as a “teaching moment” regarding their beliefs and when to express them.
Stinner told KNEB News he was at the game and understands the players have strong beliefs on the subject of social and racial injustice. But he said , “I wish they would have picked a different forum. The flag and the national anthem to me and a lot of other people represent what America is all about. We all understand we have challenges but picking the right format and forum to demonstrate is important. “
