Motorists will notice new speed limit signs going up today.
It’s the result of a law passed last session that allows the speed limit of up to 65 on four lane highways and up to 70 on some expressways and freeways.
The interstate system in Omaha has been increased from 60 to 65 miles per hour. Rural stretches of I-80 between Omaha and Lincoln remain at 75 miles per hour.
All signs are expected to be switched by the end of the day. Motorists are to obey the whatever limits are posted.
In all more than 115 law go into effect today…three months after this year’s legislative session adjourned, which is the normal grace period for new state statues.
