Four trucks and two pickups were damaged in an early Sunday morning fire at a business just southeast of Lexington. Lexington Fire Chief Dahlas Holbein says they were summoned around 3:25am to Dan’s Sanitation a longtime regional trash hauler. The trucks were all parked outdoors and close by each other. Holbein says the fire appears to have started from an electrical short in one of the three trash haulers involved in the fire and then spread to the others. The fourth truck was a semi tractor owned by a relative of the business owners. A four wheeler in one of the pickups was also destroyed. Holbein estimated firefighters were able to gain control of the fire within 30 minutes of arriving on scene.
Holbein says the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Fire Marshall’s Office.
