Scottsbluff Police Captain Brian Wasson graduates from FBI Academy

Scottsbluff Police Captain Brian Wasson last week graduated the FBI National Academy, a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement managers nominated by their agency heads because of demonstrated leadership qualities.

Wasson was nominated to attend the Academy by Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer, who is a 2011 graduate of the same course of study with the FBI.

The eleven-week program provides coursework in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science.

But Wasson told KNEB News one of the largest pillars of the experience for him is the networking opportunities gained with other law enforcement agencies worldwide for any law enforcement emergency that might have a connection with Scottsbluff.

During Friday’s graduation ceremony, honorary attendees included  FBI Director Christopher Wray, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and providing a keynote speech – none other than President Donald Trump.

Less than one percent of all enforcement leaders worldwide have the opportunity to graduate from the FBI National Academy.
