A 53-year-old Scottsbluff man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of tools and equipment from his employer and pawning it has been arrested.
Sean Leys was arrested on Sunday after deputies pulled him over for driving on a revoked license, as well as having a felony warrant for his arrest.
The warrant was issued last month after his employer contacted authorities after Leys reportedly pawned a large amount of his tools while he was on vacation.
Leys pawned 13 items, including a welder, an air compressor and other tools while his boss was out of town. When deputies interviewed Leys, he admitted to selling the items.
Leys said that his employer owed him money and he needed funds to continue operating the business. However pawn slips indicated that Leys had pawned items both before and after his boss was on vacation.
He is now facing a felony charge of Theft by Unlawful taking ($1,500 to $5,000), and is scheduled to make his first appearance on Monday in Scotts Bluff County Court.
