Scotts Bluff County will hold public open houses in November on a proposal to add two fixed routes to its daily transport program for efficiency and in an effort to increase ridership.
Director of Public Works Carol Prince says the two routes will encompass Scottsbluff, Gering and Terrytown, and have regular stops with a planned 40 minute turnaround she believes will aid a number of people going to work, school, doctors or shopping.
Prince says the fees would remain $2 for a one way trip, with an increase to $3 for demand response transports within three quarters of a mile of the fixed route.
Prince says the open houses will be either November 2nd or 3rd to receive public input on the idea, which will be funded through federal and state dollars with a 10% county match of slightly over $100,000 a year.
The projected start date is not until September of next year.
