U.S. Senator Ben Sasse commented on increasing tensions between the United States and Iran after the USS Squall fired on an Iranian military attack-boat near the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. State Department issued a warning to Americans in the Middle East regarding kidnappings.

“By appeasing Iran and paying ransoms, the Obama Administration has put Americans in danger. Just weeks after bragging about imaginary ‘leverage’ against Iran, the Obama Administration warned Americans about the growing risk of Iranian kidnappings and American sailors were forced to defend themselves against Iranian fast-attack boats. This cannot be the new normal.”
