Scottsbluff school district officials say rumors of a planned student shooting spree at the high school are unfounded.
Scottsbluff Police Student Resource Officer James Todd says the rumors began Wednesday afternoon when a bullet was found in a restroom and was handed over to security.
Todd says the rumors “just blew up” and security has talked to all the students that were mentioned as possible suspects. Todd says security has determined nothing is being planned.
Todd says one student in particular was identified, and the student and his parents were “very cooperative.” Todd says the student heard about the rumors but never said anything about shooting up the school.
Todd says he does appreciate the number of people who contacted officials about the rumors so they could be properly investigated.
