A search continues for a 23-year-old Minatare man who is missing after falling into the Flathead River in northwestern Montana.

Richard Mitchell reportedly fell into the river after climbing into a closed section of cliffs beyond an overlook railing at the dam overlook. The area is posted with warning signs about the steep dangerous slopes and the rivers swift currents.

Don Bell, the Sheriff for Lake County Montana, says helicopters have been flown in to help with the search, and dam operators have tried to reduce the flow of the river as rescue crews continue their search.

Witnesses say Mitchell fell about 12 feet from the rocky hillside and into the fast-moving river.
