The Lincoln Star Journal reports a possible tornado damaged several structures and destroyed at least one business in the southwest part of Lincoln on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Journal, the Dairy Sweet ice cream shop near Pioneers Park was thrown from its slab and left in a heap nearby, and the roof from another building closed lanes of Nebraska 2 between Van Dorn Street and Pioneers Boulevard when the storm moved through the area around 6 p.m.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
A tornado warning was posted for Lincoln around 5:45 p.m., and reports of damage quickly followed. Trees were down in the area.
According to the Journal, the thunderstorms strengthened rapidly as they approached Lincoln. At 5:35 p.m., winds gusted to 105 mph near Pleasant Dale, just west of Lincoln.
