A northern Colorado couple died but their 2-year-old son survived a crash on Interstate 25 near Loveland.
KMGH-TV reports that 34-year-old Jared Sommervold and 30-year-old Genevieve Sommervold died Friday when their car, for reasons unknown, swerved and rolled over.
Colorado State Patrol trooper Alisha Danko says it’s unclear who was driving at the time and it is not yet known what caused the driver to swerve. The Sommervolds were not wearing seatbelts.
Their 2-year-old son was buckled into a safety seat and was not injured.
Jared Sommervold was a science teacher and coach at Longmont High school and Genevieve Sommervold taught science at Fort Collins High School.
Grief counselors will be available Monday at both schools to help students and staff cope with the loss.
