NORFOLK – Northeast Community College Center for Enterprise will offer a precision measurement training course designed to assist employees who engage in dimensional inspection or measurement typical to most industrial applications.
Precision Measurement (INDT 5125/18S & CRN #70582) will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 12-28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Applied Technology building, Room 120. Steve Wagner is the instructor of the class.
This course will provide participants with interactive learning of conventional and precision measurement techniques. They will establish and further develop skills in the area of measurement by using a variety of instruments and devices such as rulers, tapes, conventional gages, calipers, micrometers and more while earning a certification from the National Coalition Centers in Precision Measurement Instruments.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer a series of basic computer classes in June.
Basic Computer I (INFO 5105/18S & CRN #70547) will be held Wednesday, June 13, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.in the Lifelong Learning Center (LLC) on the Norfolk campus.
This class is for the person who has very limited computer knowledge or none at all. The student will be taught beginning computer skills, including powering the computer on and off, using a mouse and keyboard, utilizing the desktop, and launching programs.
Basic Computer II (INFO 5305/18S & CRN #70550) will be held Wednesday, June 20, at the same time and location.
This class will review and build upon skills learned in Basic Computer I. Topics covered will include learning to use a word processor, working with tool and task bars, performing basic formatting functions, saving and printing documents.
Basic Computer III (INFO 5505/18S & CRN #60043) will be held Wednesday, June 27, at the same time and location.
This class is for the person who has very limited computer knowledge. Students will continue to build upon and improve their skills with in-depth work with word processing, keyboard shortcuts and the internet.
All classes will be taught by Stacy Anderson at a very relaxed pace with significant hands-on practice. Cost of each class is $30.

NORFOLK – A course on cake decorating will be offered by Northeast Community College next month.
Basic Cake Decorating I (HOEC 5180/18S & CRN #70548) will be held Wednesday, June 13, from 6-8 p.m. in Room 120 of the Utility Line Building, directly east of Northeast’s Norfolk campus on Benjamin Avenue.
In this beginner level course, participants will use buttercream frosting and a little expertise to turn a basic cake or cupcake into a gorgeous dessert. Participants will receive instruction on how to prepare several different types of buttercream as well as how to prepare all types of cake edging, cupcake swirls, flowers and borders. They will learn key elements to complementing buttercream, including icing cakes, pressure control piping and food color application.
A cake, cupcake and decorating kit (includes tips, spatula, cake scrapers and a flower nail) are included in the cost of the class.

NORFOLK – The Allied Health Department at Northeast Community College in Norfolk has announced two free, one-session workshops for emergency medical service technicians during the month of June.
The workshops are offered for three continuing education credits. All workshops will be conducted in local fire halls.

WEST POINT – Northeast Community College in West Point will offer a 56-hour training course next month for those wishing to earn their CDL license.
CDL Training Course (TRAN 5125/18S & CRN #70020/60002) will meet in West Point and Norfolk. The 16-hour classroom training portion of the course will take place Thursday and Friday, June 14 and 15, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the West Point Extended Campus, 202 Anna Stalp Avenue. The 40-hour driving/testing portion will take place Monday through Friday, July 9-13, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.
During this CDL training course, students will learn general CDL test information, safe driving practices, transporting cargo, air brakes, pre-trip inspection of truck and preparing for the Driving Skills exam.
Students must be 18 years of age and have a valid Nebraska driver’s license (21 years of age if driver’s license is from another state). Students are also cautioned that the physical requirements for a Class A Commercial Driver License (required for truck-tractor operators) must be consistent with the standards of the United States Department of Transportation. The required drug/alcohol testing (not included in course fee) includes pre-admittance, random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion testing.
