Newly passed ordinance opens door for Scottsbluff brew pub

Within the next year, a new “brew pub” operation is expected to open in downtown Scottsbluff on the heels of the City Council Monday evening approving an ordinance that provides for this type of business in the city zoning codes.

“Flyover Brewery” partner Joe Margheim told KNEB News they will be located at 1824 Broadway and will begin construction within the next couple of months.

Margheim says they hope to be through the licensing process within around 10 or 11 months and plan to brew around 1,600 barrels of beer a year. He says if it catches on, they see the potential for some regional distribution of the product, but initially it will just be served directly at the brew pub.

The council introduced the ordinance and waived the required three readings Monday evening before placing it into effect. City Manager Nathan Johnson told the council that passage of the ordinance would help these type of operations consider locating in the city.
