Nearly $500,000 raised during inaugural WyoBraska Gives 24 hour fundraiser

It was a whirlwind of a day for the Oregon Trail Community Foundation, but when all was said and done, their WyoBraska Gives fundraiser netted $464,578.

Those preliminary numbers represent more than 1,500 unique donations to more than 100 non-profits throughout Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming.

Several entities stand out atop the leaderboard, with the Regional West Foundation receiving nearly $148,000 in donations, followed by the Common Grounds Dog Park Committee- which received a $100,000 donation to bring their grand total to $100,069 from six donors.

Five non-profits received more than $10,000 during the 24 hour online giving event: including the Legacy of the Plains’ Japanese Hall Project, Platte River Environment Inc, Riverside Discovery Center, BSA Long Peak Council and the Northfield Elementary Booster Club.

Becky Horne with the Oregon Trail Community Foundation says yesterday’s fundraiser far exceeded their initial $200,000 fundraising total.
