Here we go again! The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of northeast , east central and southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa from 6 pm Monday evening until 6 pm Tuesday. It includes Burt, Cuming, Colfax, Dodge, Washington, Stanton, Wayne, Thurston, Shelby, Monona, Harrison, Pottawattamie, Saunders, Douglas, Sarpy, Lancaster, Cass, Otoe, Saline, Jefferson, Gage and Johnson counties.
The system will start to affect the region this afternoon, then continue through tomorrow.
It’ll bring accumulations of ice and snow to much of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. He heaviest snow amounts of two to four inches of snow and two/tenths of an inch of ice are expected north of a line from Columbus to Harlan, Iowa.
The hazardous conditions could impact the late afternoon commute today and travel conditions for tonight and Tuesday.
Further north into the Sioux City area, the Winter Weather Advisory is from 6 pm tonight until midnight Tuesday night. Up to 5 inches of snow is possible with ice accumulation of one/tenth of an inch. Winds may gust up to 30 miles per hour.
